Below are short bits & pieces on sportscard & baseball trading card collecting.
Please wander around the website for more info, prices, values & images
on vintage baseball, football, basketball, hockey, sport and non-sports cards.
1938 Horrors of War - Gum Inc.
One of the most famous card sets of all time,
it began as a 240-card set featuring the Chinese-Japanese War,
the Spanish Civil War and the Ethiopian War. 48 cards were later
added on Germany and the buildup to World War II.
Cards #25-192 appear to be slightly more common than the others
cards in the series. Cards 241-288 are similar to more recent
high numbers in that each pack held one card from the high series
and one card from the low series.
The set is extremely popular and card "values" have increased
ten-fold since the early 1990s. Cards #1, #240, #277, #283, #286 & #288 are particularly valuable,
especially in prime condition.

1981-1989 Hall of Fame Metallic Plaque cards
This special set of (204) Metallic Plaque cards included every player, executive,
manager and umpire who was a member of the Hall of Fame thru 1989.
Each 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" gold anodized aluminum card bears an exact replica of the
player's official Hall of Fame plaque.
The sets, produced in very small quantities and LIMITED TO ONLY 1,000 MADE,
were sold by the Baseball Hall of Fame thru it's gift shops between 1981 and 1989
and came in a special "faux-leather" embossed 3-Ring Binder.
It has been reported that many cards were damaged in production/distribution
so the number actually available of any one card is likely under 1,000.

1964 Topps Stand-Ups Checklist & Values
One of Topps most popular 1960's test issues !!!
Blank-backed, unnumbered & standard size - cards were called
"Stand-Ups". "Stand-Ups" refers to a type of card that was die cut around
the player's picture. The background could be folded so the player's picture
could "stand up" alone.
1934-36 Batter Up and the 1951 Topps All-Star sets are 2 other popular
stand-up issues.
22 of the 77 cards are single prints making them twice as scarce and much
higher in demand.
Thanks to the green and yellow borders and that most cards have been folded,
1964 Stand-Ups extremely difficult to obtain in high grade.
On the left and right are images of a pack and box.
Set packed with 19 Hall-of-Famers including the Top-5: Mickey Mantle,
Willie Mays, Roberto Clemente, Hank Aaron & Sandy Koufax.
