Chemtoy & MLB teamed up to offer a set of major league baseball player "Superballs" or "High Bouncing Balls". One of the more interesting collectibles from late 1960's, early 1970's and sought after by Team & Player collectors.

1970 Chemtoy Baseball SuperBalls The 285 player set with 12 per team except Twins, White Sox and A's with 11. Each "Superball" has the player's photo inside with name, team, position and Chemtoy inventory number on back.

For the first time in many years, Topps had to share the baseball card market with others. Donruss and Fleer entered the market with their own 1981 sets. When collector's heard they were thrilled. When they saw the Donruss and Fleer cards they were many sighs of disappointment.

1981 will always be remembered for "FERNANDO MANIA" !!!
Fernando did not make the Hall-of-Fame and he even had to share his rookie card with another player, but he had more impact during the 1981 season then anyone.

Other rookies included Hall-of-Famers Tim Raines and Harold Baines. Kirk Gibson's rookie is also here. Not a Hall-of-Famer, but who can forget his home run off the then unhittable Dennis Eckersley ?

At 720 cards, the 1970 Topps set became there largest ever. As is common with most Topps sets, the set was issued in several series and as usual, the higher numbers ended up being scarcer. The semi-hi's (#547 to #633) are scarcer with the scarcest being the high #s (#634 to #720).

TOP ROOKIE was the Yankee's ill-fated catcher Thurman Munson.
