1972 Topps Football

The 1972 Topps Football set contained (351) cards, and came in (3) series. The 3rd series high numbers (#264 to #351) are perhaps the scarcest regular football cards Topps ever made.
The set was jam packed with rookies including: Roger Staubach, John Riggins, Archie Manning, Lyle Alzado, Charlie Joyner, Ted Hendricks), Jim Plunkett...

Perhaps the most expensive card in the set is Joe Namath's Pro Action card, one of the very, very scarce 3rd series high #s.

The (2) top rookie cards that year were of players who never made the Hall-of-Fame but they sure had impact. Both played in the 'Big Apple'. Darryl Strawberry with the Mets and Don Mattingly across town with the Yankees.

Mattingly was the top firstbaseman nearly every year he played but his career was cut short by injury.
Strawberry's played 17 years in which many he was a top star. It's likely that other factors kept him out of the Hall.

How do I keep cards in top condition ?

A: There is a wide variety of storage supplies available to help you keep your cardsin the best condition possible. They range from hard thick acrylic screw-down holders to "penny" soft sleeves for individual cards to cardboard boxes that can hold from 100 cards upto "monster boxes" that hold more than 5,000 sportscards.
