1938 Horrors of War - Gum Inc.

One of the most famous card sets of all time, it began as a 240-card set featuring the Chinese-Japanese War, the Spanish Civil War and the Ethiopian War. 48 cards were later added on Germany and the buildup to World War II.

Cards #25-192 appear to be slightly more common than the others cards in the series. Cards 241-288 are similar to more recent high numbers in that each pack held one card from the high series and one card from the low series.

The set is extremely popular and card "values" have increased ten-fold since the early 1990s. Cards #1, #240, #277, #283, #286 & #288 are particularly valuable, especially in prime condition.

1961 Nu-Card Baseball Scoops

80-card set of regular sized cards Issued by Nu-Card, Inc., followed on the footsteps of their over-sized 1960 issue. The cards again featured newspaper style baseball highlights ('Scoops'). Printed in red and black, the card fronts resemble a newspaper's front page headline story with photo with the "news article" on the back. The cards showcase some of the baseball's most interesting highlights in it's first 100 years. The 80 card 1961 Nu card Scoops set is numbered from 401-480.

1952,1953,1954,1955 Red Man TOBACCO
Checklist & Values

Tobacco cards were instrumental in the start of the baseball card industry but were pretty much unheard of since 1920. That is until RED MAN TOBACCO got in the game issuing baseball cards in 1952, 1953, 1954 & 1955.

For just 20 cents you got a pouch of Red Man tobacco and one awesome 3-1/2 x 4 inch baseball card with it's tab (3-1/2 x 3-5/8 without). Exchange FIFTY tabs and you got one free big league style felt baseball cap of your favorite team. This made cards with tabs much, much harder to find and values 2 to 10 times higher.

25 players from each league were selected by "Sporting News" editor J.G. Taylor Spink. A Player's artwork with different backgrounds was used year after year. If a player changed teams, new team name & logo were painted over the old one. To determine the year, just subtract 1 from the expiration date on back of the card. The 1954 set had four variations.
