Old Vintage Baseball Cards

1951 Red & Blue Backs were similar to a deck of cards and left out most the games stars. Kids said a loud "NO". So Topps thought: "BIGGER is BETTER", describing their 1952 set as: "GIANT IN BOTH SIZE and NUMBER of CARDS" (407). The rest is history and Topps baseball cards became a huge, huge part for a few years of many devloping boys' lives.

I remember in those years, anxiously awaiting the season's first cards.
What would they look like ?   Who are this year's "hot" rookies ?
What STARS would be the all important #1, #100, #500 ... ? Mays ? Mantle ? Aaron ???
Which players would look particularly "cool" ??? ... 1964 Felix Mantilla, 1965 Dean Chance...
Which "not so cool" ??? ... (we used harsher words)
... any Don Mossi, any 1961 Topps with hats off, 1964 Topps Casey Stengel...
